booqbee Privacy Policy

1. Who we are and whom this policy covers

This policy explains what personal information booqbee collects, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. We do not sell personal information. booqbee is a booking and reminder service for small businesses in the United States. It is operated by Colin Hsu, a sole proprietor doing business as booqbee, based in California (“booqbee,” “we,” “us”).

This policy covers three groups:

  • Customers: businesses that create a booqbee account, and their staff.
  • Clients: people who book appointments with a Customer or receive reminders through booqbee.
  • Visitors: people who browse our website.

A note for Clients. When you book with a business that uses booqbee, that business controls your information, and we process it on the business’s behalf. The business’s own privacy policy also applies. For questions or requests about your information, contact the business first. We will help them respond.

2. Information we collect and how we use it

We collect only what we need to run bookings, send email reminders, bill Customers and keep the Service secure.

We also use information to prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and meet legal obligations. We send Customers occasional product updates by email. You can unsubscribe from those at any time, but we will still send account and billing emails. We do not use Client information to market our own services to Clients.

3. Sharing, retention and security

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only as follows:

  • Service providers who help run booqbee under contracts that limit how they use the data: Stripe (payments), Base44 (app hosting and database), and Google (sending reminder and account emails).
  • The Customer a Client booked with. Client information is visible to that business and its staff.
  • Legal reasons. We share information when the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of booqbee, our users or others.
  • Business transfer. If booqbee is sold, merged or reorganized, information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.
  • With your permission, in any other case.

How long we keep it. We keep Customer account and Client information while the Customer’s account is active. After an account closes, we keep it for 30 days so the Customer can export it, then delete or de-identify it within 90 days. We keep billing records as long as tax and accounting laws require, usually 7 years. Backups are overwritten on a regular cycle.

Security. We use reasonable safeguards, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, and payment processing through PCI-compliant Stripe. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.

4. Your choices and privacy rights

Everyone. You can update your account details in your settings, unsubscribe from product update emails with the link in any of them, and ask us to delete your account by emailing support@booqbee.com.

Clients. If you no longer want reminders from a business, use the unsubscribe link in the reminder email or contact the business. To see, correct or delete your booking information, ask the business you booked with. If you contact us directly, we will pass your request to that business and help it respond.

California residents. If California privacy law (including the CCPA, as amended by the CPRA) applies to booqbee, you have the right to:

  • know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, and get a copy of it;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate information;
  • ask us to delete your information, subject to legal exceptions;
  • opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do neither);
  • limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not use it for purposes that require this);
  • not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

The categories we collect are listed in section 2: identifiers, customer records, commercial information, internet activity, and approximate location from IP address. We disclose them only for the business purposes in section 3.

How to make a request. Email support@booqbee.com with the subject “Privacy Request.” We will verify your identity by confirming details linked to your account or booking, and we will respond within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent if you give them written permission. We may ask you to confirm the agent’s authority.

5. Cookies, children, changes and contact

Cookies. We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and keep the Service secure. We do not use advertising cookies. We do not currently respond to “Do Not Track” signals, but we honor Global Privacy Control signals as an opt-out of sale or sharing, which we do not do anyway.

Children. booqbee is for businesses and is not directed to children under 13. Customers must be 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 except where a Customer books an appointment for a minor with a parent or guardian’s involvement. If you believe a child has given us information improperly, contact us and we will delete it.

United States only. We store and process information in the United States.

Changes. We may update this policy. If we make material changes, we will email Customers or post a notice in the app before they take effect, and we will update the effective date above.
